Today, in their October Month-in-Review newsletter mailed to members, Preservation Chicago (preservationchicago.org) added the Receptory & Stables building in Humboldt Park to their ADVOCACY list, placed at #9. They also included our petition in their newsletter!

Please remind your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers that together, we can be the gatekeeper of the Parks, protecting them if we join together.

Please read, review, question, clarify, sign and circulate the petition.

Parkland needs your help to save it from development! Do not let Humboldt Park set the precedent for a landslide of new privately controlled buildings occupying parkland for our lifetimes, and future generations. The new Archives building would surely be a great asset to the community, just not built on public lands.

I am honored that Preservation Chicago would add this dire threat to their list. Take a peek at their website, subscribe to their newsletters which are extremely detailed and informative of all things Preservation, and if you are in a position to donate to the organization, please do so. They understand what is at stake in our Parks and are taking a stand.

Thank you, community and concerned citizens for your support. My wife and I are humbled and honored by your support.

I have been asked a number of questions by curious individuals. An interesting one is "Do I need to be an IL resident to sign?" The answer is unequivocally "NO" as millions in federal grant dollars were used in the 90's to repair and renovate the historic structure.

Also, a shout out to a community leader who pointed out that I misspelled the Park District Superintendent's name and email address. Oops. I corrected it this evening so if you sent her an email, please resend to: Superintendent.Escareno@chicagoparkdistrict.com

Thanks again, from 18-year residents two blocks from the Park,

Kurt & Paula
