Parking Restrictions in York University Village Need to Change!

Parking Restrictions in York University Village Need to Change!
The Issue
The Residential On-Street Parking permit system have been around for a while in Toronto but surprisingly not availabe to residents of York University Village. The current residents who own more than two vehicles or simply do not rent a garage from their landlords face the scrutiny of moving their cars every hour due to time limit placed for on-street parking.
We propose either,
a) Amend the by-laws as such that residents are able to park their cars 8 am - 5 pm on weekdays and increase the limit from one hour to at least two hours
b) Without changing the current by-law in place, add another by-law to let residents apply for on-site parking permit/temporary parking permit/visitor parking permit subject to availability
c) Eliminate current by-law in place and make an exemption to only issue on-site parking permit, Visitor parking permit for residents of York University Village.
If you are a resident who lives in the area of York University Village or surrounding areas where the homes are tightly packed and parking is limited, you know how frustrating it is to remember on a daily basis to bring your car around every hour and park it on whatever strip of space you have available in your parking lane outside your front door. If you fall asleep on the couch it's a 80 dollar ticket. If you park in the laneway behind your garage it's a fire route infraction another couple hundred dollars.
This by-law is discriminatory, creates difficulties in many situations, is onerous for those affected and is really unpopular among homeowners. The roads within subdivision are NOT high traffic areas and should NOT be treated as such.
According to City of Toronto's website "A residential on-street permit entitles permit holding residents to park their automobile on the street within a specified area exclusively during permit parking hours. This program generally services those residential areas where driveways and/or garages are not common"
