At the end of a recent Fairfax town council meeting, during the discussion for “Future agenda items” our Mayor, Stephanie Hellman requested a public forum discussion on the topic of the encampment.  She added this "I cited the need for transparency and clarifying for the community what action has been taken.  Renee and Chance who sit on a county homelessness committee agreed to develop a presentation with HHS.  We all concur this is an important community topic to cover as soon as possible. We are targeting this presentation with public comment for the August 3 council meeting – date is still to be confirmed as the HHS team has had difficulty committing due to COVID and vacation scheduling.  Our staff is working on it.  I recommend the group you mention below attend that council meeting and provide comment.  In the meantime I strongly encourage you all to familiarize yourselves with the Martin vs. Boise ruling/appeal.  The ruling held that cities cannot enforce anti-camping ordinances if they do not have enough shelter beds available for their homeless population."

Mayor Hellman also mentioned that the staff is tied up with other urgent matters like the 2nd sinkhole the Pine St. landslide and hiring 3 open critical positions. The Mayor also added that she is personally working on getting a vendor to get samples of the creek for lab testing.

I am waiting to see if Renee and Chance may be able to offer us more information.
