Just a reminder about this circulating petition regarding the park encampment in our town. Honoring our park as a place to enjoy for everyone is important. This is not about targeting the unhoused in our community. It's about honoring the regulations that have already been established, to encourage civility, and respect for each other and park lands. It's about establishing a better protocol for addressing the needs of the un-housed citizens in our community. This petition not about "kicking them out" but holding encampment members there to the same system of accountability that housed citizens must abide by. It is important that the park remain a place for our community's gatherings, quiet reflection, a place where our children can safely play, and where nature can flourish. The un-housed in our community are part of this picture, but the park is not set up their for long-term dwelling. We need another solution.
