We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of you who participated in the outcome of tonight’s BOE meeting. The letter will NOT be sent to Governor Murphy and mask mandates will remain intact in Wayne. While we recognize that even sending a letter would have had no real impact in the mask mandate decision, it would have set a very bad precedent that could lead to the erosion of COVID protective measures in our town, not to mention giving way for a fringe group that opposes more than just masks. Special thanks to everyone who signed and shared the petition, for everyone who spoke up on social media, for those who researched and organized our message, for those who wrote letters to the members of the BOE, to Fran Ritter who tried to get a mask mandate for the municipal building in time for the meeting to make it safer for people to attend, for those who lent encouraging words, and especially for those who attended the live meeting and spoke up. María Pranzo, Heidi Jay, Jacob Van Lunen, Don Chawla, Debra Califf, Cindy Simon, Andrew Smith, Katie Scheidt, and the others in our group. You are ALL AMAZING and we’re honored to be in the trenches and fight alongside you. Now, onward to the November BOE elections to ensure we protect our town and get the common sense informed candidates who will serve the whole community, not just the vocal minority, elected!!! Please forgive we missed anyone. Thank You Everyone- WE DID IT!!!
