Dear South Brunswick 5th Grade Parents,

Like all students across the world, our 5th graders have missed out on so many elementary school milestones due to the pandemic. We are approaching a light at the end of the tunnel where we can safely hold in-person recognition ceremonies for all SB 5th grade classes, either socially distanced indoors or set up outside. Our school district has done a wonderful job making decisions to keep our students safe, yet still experience some sense of normalcy. They have planned for our middle school and high school students to have in-person graduation ceremonies, yet decided to hold only virtual ceremonies for our 5th graders. Please sign this petition to show your support for our 5th graders who also deserve an in-person celebration. This is a time of healing for all of us, the memory of elementary recognition, saying good bye to a majority of their childhood, and standing with their peers one last time as a 5th grade elementary class, is an important memory that should not be taken from them. Let's give them the silver lining we promised so they can start the next chapter of their education with positive memories of the past 6 years.
