Dear Sonia Gregson,
Thank you for your feedback about accessing the train services utilised by school children on the South Coast Line. I apologise for the inconvenience you are experiencing.
As you may be aware, COVID-related staff shortages are currently impacting public transport services. Our priority is the safety of our customers and staff, and we expect the number of staff impacted to vary as this situation evolves. We thank you for your patience.
Due to current staff shortages, the South Coast Line is operating on a Sunday Timetable with some additional services. The services that your children have previously used, may not currently be running.
Students and parents are encouraged to utilise Trip Planner at https://transportnsw.info/trip#/trip to best plan their trips. Where services can be amended/added we will endeavour to do so as soon as possible.
You may be assured we are working hard to manage these impacts and provide vital transport services. Unfortunately, this may mean that services are adjusted or cancelled at short notice and we appreciate your understanding.
As mobility increases due to schools going back and the risk of COVID-19 spreading increases, we have been working closely with NSW Health and the Department of Education to plan for and manage this. This includes:
Prioritising school term bus services while continuing to run a dynamic timetable across our other services – importantly, no school student will be turned away from any public transport.
Encouraging parents and carers to plan ahead and consider all their travel options for the school pick up and drop off.
Keeping the COVIDSafe Transport Plan in place with green physical distancing dots and enhanced cleaning continuing across our public transport network.

TfNSW will continue to monitor the services and customer feedback such as yours and make improvements where possible.
