Thank you for getting us to almost 100K signatures! However, our campaign to #SaveNagaenthran is not over. This coming Tuesday, in less than four days, Nagaenthran’s last-ditch appeal hearing is scheduled to take place. 

In Malaysia, the King has written to the president of Singapore, appealing for clemency to be granted to Nagaenthran. Deputy foreign minister Kamarudin Jaffar conveyed, “We tried all we could to help and I can reveal that apart from the foreign minister and the prime minister, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had also written to the Singapore president for the sentence to be reduced for a certain case, or the individual to be freed.” However, despite intervention by the Malaysian government, the Singapore government is still refusing to budge on its decision, and has insisted than Nagaenthran was “accorded full due process”.

In light of Nagaenthran's impending appeal hearing, Transformative Justice Collective (TJC) has also listed out a few ideas on what we can do. They advise us to email our MPs and President Halimah Yacob, hand deliver letters to the Istana, speak to our MPs during meet-the-people sessions, and to change our profile photos to images of Nagen as a way to show our solidarity. TJC has also kindly provided email/letter templates addressed to the President and our MPs.

On 30 November, the Court of Appeal will hear Nagaenthran’s final challenge to his sentence and, if it fails, a presidential pardon will be his only hope of avoiding the gallows. Therefore, it is vital that we continue raising our voices, and do our part in gathering as much supporters as possible to #SaveNagaenthran.
