Due to your fervent efforts to spread the word, we have surpassed 28K signatures! However, our battle to #SaveNagaenthran has not ended. As 10 November draws nearer, we are inevitably confronted with the horrific reality of the situation: In eight days' time, Naga is scheduled to be sent to the gallows. I can’t even begin to fathom the sheer terror and despair that Naga and his family must be experiencing.

In hopes of providing them with some solace, I encourage you to post words of support and love to Naga and his family in the comment section below. I will be informing the kind souls from Transformative Justice Collective who are assisting Naga's family about this, and hopefully his family will be able to find consolation while reading your heartfelt messages. (You can donate to support TJC's movement here.)

In terms of media coverage, The Sydney Morning Herald published an article highlighting the efforts undertaken by human rights lawyers and activists to spare Nagathran from being hanged.

Here’s an excerpt from the write-up:

“In situations like these, it is like Singapore is hellbent on deliberately defying every sort of international human rights standard to carry out its capital punishment verdicts, and the consequences be damned,” said Phil Robertson, Human Rights Watch’s Asia Division Deputy Director.

“There is really no other explanation for its decision to blatantly violate UN admonishments and proceed with the execution of someone like Nagaenthran, who suffers a mental disability. Going forward with this execution would be outrageous and unacceptable, and Singapore should stop it now before it’s too late.”

Within the past few days, several online news sites from both Singapore and Malaysia have also made reports about our petition: These include The Independent, Must Share News, Coconuts KL, and SAYS.

To raise awareness about the campaign to halt Naganthran’s execution, rapper and social justice advocate Subhas Nair appeared at his court hearing yesterday donning a t-shirt emblazoned with Naga’s face. Thank you Subhas, for your bravery and show of solidarity!

As always, thank you for your support. The fight to save Naga’s life is far from over. Let’s continue to urge our major state-owned news outlets like The Straits Times and TODAY to report on our campaign to #SaveNagaenthran!
