Palomar HOV Single Rider Neighbor Carpool initiative
Palomar HOV Single Rider Neighbor Carpool initiative
The Issue
This Is my first time creating a petition, because I believe we as Palomar HOV on/off ramp neighbors— together can make a change.
I am a neighbor of the Chula Vista HOV carpool exit/on-ramp and reside approximately .25 miles or less from this ramp.
I have been a property owner since July of 2009 and a have had to deal with the noise from construction work, as well as the additional noise and increased criminal activity from this exit for many years without being able to utilize it to its potential.
It’s a project that seems to have done very little to help our neighborhood traffic congestion. I consistently see busses without passengers, very few single rider cars utilizing it— as well as the parking lot close to empty daily (except for the criminals who are there at night due to the hidden location of the parking lot.) The lot seems to mostly be used for people utilizing the park across the street for little league games and parties when I do see people there.
I was so excited when this finally opened after years of loud construction, but I now I’m really not quite sure why this was ever built? As there are very few vehicles that actually take advantage of these HOV lanes and parking.
I am in the process of coordinating all neighbors within the area to become involved in the Palomar HOV single rider neighborhood carpool initiative; This initiative will involve opening this exit/on-ramp up to single rider residents within .5 mile radius. Possibly with addresses on file with the local police department or a special sticker on our vehicles so us residents can use this on and off-ramp without a hefty fee.
This initiative will help with traffic congestion on Telegraph Canyon Road, as well as help with Chula Vista’s ongoing efforts to protect the environment—since neighbors will be conserving fuel and putting less mileage and wear and tear on our vehicles.
Chula Vista is an amazing city and I am proud to call it my home— but as a homeowner who has to live next to and paid the taxes to build something that I can rarely access with increased noise, traffic and criminal activity is not something to ignore.
Please forward this petition to your nearby neighbor, so we can discuss with City Officials an initiative to open this exit up to single rider Chula Vista residents within a .5 mile radius.
Please sign this to help make change in our beautiful city.
Thank you!
