Palm Beach Road to lose 400+ trees and mangroves ACT NOW, BEFORE FELLING BEGINS !

Palm Beach Road to lose 400+ trees and mangroves ACT NOW, BEFORE FELLING BEGINS !
The Issue
World avg ~400 trees/person
India : 28 trees/person
Urban planning minimum recommended 3/person
Navi Mumbai: ~1/person
As per the SC directives,
Rs 74500 x Age of the tree in years is the value to our national assets . All these are mature trees.
Why this stretch matters
•Continuous mature tree corridor along Palm Beach Road — a primary pollution and heat buffer
• Linked ecological system: Mangroves + Sea water + coastal micro-climate regulation
• Existing city green cover already declining; this is one of the last continuous shaded stretches
• Mature canopy provides temperature moderation and air filtration that saplings cannot replicate
• Relocation of mature trees have low survival (often under 30%) and lose ecological function for decades
• Compensatory plantation cannot replace immediate canopy loss
• Removal permanently alters local temperature, air buffering and storm-water behaviour
We respectfully request authorities to:
• Review the current alignment and necessity of large-scale tree removal
• Explore engineering alternatives that preserve the existing green corridor
• Ensure consultation from domain experts and public before final approval
This petition is not opposition to development — it is a request for reconsideration to explore responsible alternative options so infrastructure and environment can coexist responsibly
We still have hope to reverse project decisions, sign the petition NOW to show majority support to review the plan and minimise irreversible loss before felling starts .
