Dear Supporter,

We have a victory of the sorts. On March 20th, referring to the ask of East Punjab's Cabinet Minister - Navjot Singh Sidhu, the Pakistan Government allocated 30 acres of land that Baba Nanak tilled to be reserved for a green space. We thank Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and PM Imran Khan for this allowance but it is not enough. Their plans to build heavily on the remaining fields that Baba Nanak tilled with his own hands will destroy what was preserved for 500 years. It is not acceptable.

"Prime Minister Imran Khan knows very well that beauty and sustainability lie in ecological and heritage tourism that is sensitive to the land, its spirit, its history and honors the locals, their culture and values, while caring for their economy – and not in commercial tourism that allures temporarily but causes agony and rift in the long run.

In that light, I request key government functionaries overseeing the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor Project to keep my petition signed by close to 17,000 people from around the world — and backed by a letter from Navjot Singh Sidhu and MPA Momina Waheed’s resolution submitted to Pakistan’s parliament, and by several Sikh organizations representing hundreds of gurdwaras worldwide — in view.

The declaration of Kartarpur as the first heritage village of Pakistan along the lines as proposed by the Sikh diaspora; and declaring all pre-Partition Sikh heritage in Pakistan as national heritage will not only be a tribute to Baba Nanak, it will also be an example that Pakistan will set for the world — a new world of peace, amity and respect for all."

Please read my open letter to PM Imran Khan, published in the Daily Times asking him to keep our ask in the view.

OPEN LETTER TO PM IMRAN KHAN

And please keep spreading the word. We have gotten this far because of your voice. Please make it louder. We have a good chance of being heard if we keep marching.

Thank You!

Gurmeet Kaur
