Stop Ozark AnnexMO, United States
Jun 9, 2020

Those of you who appreciate history and have signed to keep this place the way it is are awesome people. I don't know if the board will listen to the more than 2500 people who have singed but we have over 3k supporters who want to see it preserved and protected.

The town population is 10k. Would be awesome of everyone called and sent emails to the mayor and governor as well.

This is an old plat map of Ozark from the 1800's, it shows a town called Alma. It was most likely built for the workers at the Alma Lead and Zinc mine located at 36.9911°N 93.1973°W

The town was dismantled and long forgotten. Today it is a filed for cattle. Most people have never heard of it. The Springfield Daily Leader, Reported it on November 5, 1923 You can read more of it on the green county library website

This particular area is not very far form the area that has been annexed and is now going through planning and zoning. Alderman Posten who voted no on the annexation recently suggested having smaller lot sizes to a mere 8,000 sq feet and up to 7 homes per acre. Should this go through, no matter what kind of proposed protections are in place, the area will be forever destroyed.
