The upper Thames is beautiful, and is used by swimmers, boat users, dogs, cattle, horses, rowing clubs and canoers. Here several members of Oxford's Falcon Boat Club explain the routine hazards of paddling through untreated sewage from a proportion of the 230,000 people connected to Oxford's Sewage Treatment Works. The site is downstream from the centre of Oxford, just above Sandford Lock.
