Current suggestions from the council for Bertie Park include “an adequately sized play area” and “a kick around area .. with nets and a porous hard surface so that local kids can learn footie on it”.

There is movement, but no real understanding of the importance of the MUGA.

It is council policy that “existing open space, sports and recreational buildings and land … should not be built on unless … the loss resulting from the proposed development would be replaced by equivalent or better provision in terms of quantity and quality in a suitable location".

It is essential that we keep up the pressure on the council to stand by their own policies.
