Overturn the Michigan ban on lidocaine for tattoo artists

Overturn the Michigan ban on lidocaine for tattoo artists
The Issue
I have been a cosmetologist for over 27 years and a permanent makeup artist for more than 20 years. For decades, Permanent makeup artists have relied on topical lidocaine to ensure our clients are comfortable during procedures, making the tattooing and permanent makeup application processes as painless as possible. This practice has not only enhanced the quality of our service but also the overall client experience, and the sudden ban on lidocaine for tattoo artists has upended the industry.
The current requirement for clients to obtain a prescription to use lidocaine is not only cumbersome but unnecessary. This product has long been available over-the-counter and has been safely utilized by many professionals in the field. It's a decision that has caused undue stress for both practitioners and clients, many of whom are confused and inconvenienced by the additional step of consulting with a healthcare provider for something that was once readily accessible.
Lidocaine is a well-tested topical anesthetic that has been used without issue for countless years, and is available to anyone online.
In light of this, we urge regulatory authorities to reconsider and overturn this ban. By reinstating access to lidocaine for professional tattoo artists, we can ensure that these cosmetic procedures remain safe and accessible without causing unnecessary hassle and discomfort to customers.
Sign this petition to voice your support for overturning the on lidocaine ban and help us continue delivering the best possible care to our clients. Together, we can appeal for a change that makes sense for both professionals and the public.
