Removal of Aboriginal Flag

Council is also planning to remove the Aboriginal flag from outside the council chamber building. As reported in News24 this week, the council has requested the installation of a new flagpole to fly the Australian, NSW and Strathfield Council flag.

They are installing a new pole but are going out of their way to eliminate Aboriginal symbols. Much like the welcome signs the proposal was not published in the council meeting agenda and was amended within the meeting, preventing public comment prior to the passage of the motion.
