Petition updateOverturn Amendment 3 in Missouri for Restructuring Reproductive RightsThe Agenda of Reproductive Rights Movement

What was Missouri’s status on abortion and reproductive health?

In the state of Missouri, abortion was banned only with certain exceptions. Those exceptions being to save the life of or prevent serious risk to the health of a pregnant woman. Missouri law also included that all patients undergo a mandatory 72 hour waiting period and receive counseling prior to an abortion. Missouri law also required that any minor seeking an abortion must receive parental consent. This law was in effect June 24, 2022.

What did Amendment 3 change?

Fast forward to November 2024, Amendment 3 has amended the Missouri Constitution to provide the right to “reproductive freedom.” In the initiative, it is defined as the “right to make and carry out decisions about all matters relating to reproductive health care, including but not limited to prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, birth control, abortion care, miscarriage care, and respectful birthing conditions."
It changed the ability how laws preventing abortions can be written. Amendment 3 provides the state legislature the ability to enact laws regulating abortion AFTER “fetal viability.” Fetal viability is defined in the initiative as “in the good faith judgment of a treating health care professional and based on the particular facts of the case, there is a significant likelihood of the fetus’s sustained survival outside the uterus without the application of extraordinary medical measures."

How will that restrict enacting laws against abortion?

As defined in the initiative “any law enacted by the state legislature could not restrict an abortion which, in the judgment of a treating health care professional, was needed to protect the life or physical or mental health of the pregnant person.” Women and minors will be constitutionally protected to abortions without interference. There are absolutely no limits to women, adults and minors alike, to getting an abortion in the state of Missouri.

Why are we asking for the overturn of amendment 3?

If it doesn’t get challenged, it will give constitutional protection to minors under the banner of “Reproductive Freedom” that anything to do with their body applicable and not limited to, abortions, hormone blockers, or gender transition surgeries without the consent or interference of either parent/guardians or law. The Amendment 3 initiative states that “The Government shall not discriminate against persons providing or obtaining reproductive health care or assisting another person to do so.” And also states that  “The Government shall not deny or infringe upon a person’s fundamental right to reproductive freedom.”
This constitutional protection violates Personal Rights of every single parent and guardian in the state of Missouri. To put into perspective: the legal age in Missouri in most adult like activities is 21 i.e. rent a car, consume alcohol. According to Amendment 3, all minors at any given age, without definition, seeking reproductive health care can have abortions and or decide to transition to the opposite sex as it is their “reproductive right” without consent or interference.

What is the agenda?

  1. Dehumanize babies because if they’re not human, then they have no rights natural or otherwise. To strip away natural rights from those who cannot speak for themselves and illegally gain personal rights, but call it “reproductive freedom.” Naturals rights are inherent to all human beings simply because they exist and are upheld outside of the law. Yet, babies in utero, have none.
  2. Further overlook infants, children, and teens who are stuck in a broken foster care system. Some of our most vulnerable and yet have no control of their outcome.
  3. Infiltrate the family unit through the sexualization of minors in both education and reproductive rights.
  4. Removing the ability to evolve from a fallen and failed system as a whole by restricting the ability to enact laws that protect personal rights.

Quotes

“There is no 5 year old in the world that is explicitly gay, lesbian, transgender or heterosexual. Small children do not think about sex and sexuality unless they have been groomed to do so by an adult. These are the facts.” Candace Owens

“If it’s not a human being, then why are you harvesting organs from it?” Ben Carson

What can we do TOGETHER?

Based on the underlying agenda through Amendment 3, preference outweighs Natural Rights.
