GREAT NEWS! The CPUC Suspended SJWC's Advice Letter 513 which would have increased our rates another 4.43% on January 1, 2018. Thank you to all who protested. It made the difference. The decision for this step rate increase was made in 2016 as part of the 2016, 2017, 2018 three year General Rate Case. Because of our protests, the CPUC Water Division has suspended this increase. As far as I know, this has never happened before. This is the first step to potentially reversing a commission decision. The suspension of AL512 and AL513 (which were both authorized in previous commission decisions) is signaling a change at the CPUC in favor of the ratepayer. They are hearing us. SJWC will be filing their next 3 year General Rate Case (GRC) in January 2018. Let’s make sure we keep the pressure on the CPUC to make decisions that protect the ratepayer. Keep up the good fight!
