Some time after the November 6, 2017 Cost of Capital public hearing, the CPUC changed their mission statement. San Jose Inside/Metro published the Op-Ed regarding the CPUC’s recent change to their Mission Statement removing the wording “Reasonable Rates”. Thank you Jennifer Wadsworth! Let Senator Jim Beall and Assemblymember Evan Low know that they need to author and/or co-author legislature for CPUC to be investigated and reformed. WRATES has submitted two legislative proposals to Sen. Beall: 1.) Reinstate the "Earning Test" so all rate increase requests are properly evaluated 2.) Revamp the advice letter process. We also requested an investigation. Please call or email their offices and encourage them to get involved and advocate for their constituents. The CPUC continues to align itself with the utilities at the ratepayers expense and lacks transparency. Senator Beall's Office Sunshine Borell, Chief of Staff - sunshine.borelli@sen.ca.gov Carrie Holmes, Legislative Director - carrie.holmes@sen.ca.gov Sacramento office: (916) 651-4015 Campbell office: (408) 558-1295 Assemblymember Evan Low - https://a28.asmdc.org/article/contact-evan Sacramento office: (916) 319-2028 Cupertino office: (408) 446-2810 I also spoke with the Mercury News. Hopefully they will print an article or the op-ed too.
