Outlaw the "Mosquito" alarm across the UK

The Issue

The "Mosquito" was invented in 2005 and has been harming members of the public ever since.

The alarm is designed to emit an extremely unpleasant, high-pitched noise in a frequency which is not universally audible. The frequency is more frequently audible to younger people and audio-sensitive people, as it was designed to discourage the presence of young people. It causes pain and discomfort to innocent members of the public attempting to access public spaces.

There are not legal restrictions on their use, which means that they have been installed in a wide range of public spaces, or on private land abutting public spaces. They are a particular challenge for young and neurodivergent people, which are protected characteristics under the Equalities Act 2010. They cause degrading and derogatory treatment of these people, which is a breach of the UN Declaration on Human Rights and the Human Rights Act 1998.

I am calling on HM Government to outlaw all such devices, and for the Home Office to co-ordinate a process for Mosquito alarms to be collected for destruction. I would propose outlawing the ownership or distribution of any such device. This is for the good of our nation and community, and to crack down on unacceptable violence and discrimination.
