From microplastics in the food we eat to the air we breathe, it’s clear that plastic pollution is a global crisis that we can’t ignore. Recent studies have even found microplastics in our blood—yes, in our bodies.

In fact, one alarming study showed that 8 out of 10 people tested positive for microplastics in their blood. This is not just a future problem; it’s happening now. We are consuming plastic every day through the products we use and the packaging they come in. It’s time to ask: Why are we continuing to use disposable plastic bottles and products that only contribute to the crisis?

We have alternatives! We can replace single-use plastic bottles with reusable ones. We can swap plastic cleaning products for reusable glass bottles and natural concentrates. It’s simple and effective, but we need a push to make these changes mainstream.

That’s why I’m calling on the government to take action and pass legislation that provides every American with a set of reusable cleaning products—whether it’s through companies like Grove Collaborative or by promoting sustainable glass bottles and all-natural concentrates. This small change could significantly reduce plastic waste and help prevent millions of plastic bottles from ending up in our oceans and landfills.
