Bring Back the OLL Flea Tent! A Pinellas Tradition Worth Saving

Remember the thrill of walking into that giant tent at the Our Lady of Lourdes Fall Festival? Tables piled high, treasures everywhere, and the excitement of never knowing what you'd find? For about 50 years, that flea market tent was the heart of the festival. It paused during COVID and never came back. Let's change that together!

That tent was a life saver for my family for most of my life. My kids' clothes, our furniture, Christmas presents in the lean years, even the decorations for my wedding all came from that tent. And my kids? They LOVED it. Being handed a bag and told to fill it with whatever they wanted was pure magic for them. Those are memories I'll treasure forever.

I know I'm not alone. People came from Clearwater, Palm Harbor, Tarpon Springs, Largo, and all over Pinellas. Everything was donated, school parents and parishioners volunteered, and prices were so low you could still haggle! The Sunday $5 grab bag alone helped countless families stretch a paycheck.

And right now, we need it more than ever. Groceries, rent, and insurance keep climbing, and families everywhere are feeling the squeeze. Thrift stores are wonderful, but they have rent and payroll to cover, so furniture especially is out of reach for many. The OLL flea tent filled a gap nothing else in Pinellas does.

Here's the good news: this is completely doable! Many of us are ready to donate items and volunteer our time to make it happen. All we need is to show Our Lady of Lourdes how much this community wants it back.
