CHARGE MICHAEL HACKENBERGER OF BOWMANVILLE ZOO FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
The Issue
There has been a very long, documented history of public concern for the animals at Bowmanville Zoo. Through Michael Hackenberger's "training methods" of the animals he uses to perform in his circus, citizens have been pleading with governing authorities for decades to intervene and close this zoo. However, the OSPCA (Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) do not appear to have any issue with these methods. Furthermore, CAZA (Canadian Accredited Zoos and Aquariums) approve Mr. Hackenberger's facility as an "accredited zoo," with their organization.
On December 22, 2015, a video was released by PETA which shows exactly what this man does to "break" his animals to create fear and submission to perform these ridiculous circus acts. Essentially, these animals are trained using fear and pain tactics in order to comply.
Below is the video PETA released and you can see for yourself EXACTLY how Mr. Hackenberger "trains" his animals. This excessive whipping of a tiger is absolutely not acceptable. You will see a tiger being whipped repeatedly and in fact, the tiger is submissing to him, yet, Mr. Hackenberger continues to whip and swear at the tiger in a clear episode of rage.

Michael Hackenberger clearly has severe anger issues and we feel, given this recently released video, it is quite evident that the OSPCA needs to finally intervene for the safety and welfare of these animals.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! We are asking the OSPCA charge Michael Hackenberger of Bowmanville Zoo with obvious animal cruelty and seize the animals he uses for his circus. As well- we are asking CAZA pull Bowmanville Zoo's accreditation. We would hope that CAZA would not support such animal training tactics.
