Traffic safety in Finstown

Speeding traffic through Finstown is a potential hazard. Some motorists travel through the village at speeds that are well over the 30 mph limit! Pedestrians are almost sucked onto the road by passing busses, tractors and lorries when walking on the narrow pavements; especially vulnerable are children walking to school, the elderly, and mums with pushchairs and toddlers.

We request:
·      That measures are taken to enforce the existing speed limit, e.g., speed checks, speed cameras.
·      That speed limit boundaries be extended on entry roads to the village, e.g., the main road, Old Finstown Road.
·      That the speed limit is reduced to 20 mph, at least for large vehicles.

• If possible, do something about the narrow pavements as well!

Safe traffic conditions would greatly improve the quality of life for Finstown residents and ensure a safer community.
