Dear Friends of Wild Steelhead,

Happy New Year! I hope you've had a good holiday with your family and friends. Hopefully, you got to spend some time outside!

As you read in my last update, the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission will be taking a vote on the petition for catch and release for wild steelhead at their upcoming meeting on Friday, January 17th in Salem, Oregon. This is a big opportunity for wild steelhead release!

While so much is going in the favor of wild steelhead, there are still many who believe no action (including a shift to catch and release) is necessary until there is a full-blown steelhead crisis. With most wild steelhead populations across the Pacific Northwest either extinct or threatened with extinction, we know we can do better and be good stewards of wild steelhead to ensure they're healthy and thriving for the long term. We don't need to wait for another crisis before taking action.

Please help us demonstrate the overwhelming support for catch and release by signing and sharing this petition (let's get to 25,000 signatures!).

If you're based in Oregon please join us in Salem to speak up for wild steelhead on Friday, January 17th. For details please send an email to releasewildsteelhead@gmail.com. Thank you for all your help and support!

Best Regards,

Harvey
