Laguna Canyon is home to many trails that local enthusiasts enjoy for hiking and mountain biking.  Most of these trails have been around for decades and were built and maintained by the people in the community that use them the most. Over the years, orange county parks have adopted many of these trails and deemed them "legal" while some remain "illegal". It is clear that OC Parks is unable to properly maintain many of these trails and a lot of the time, local mountain bike enthusiasts will take up shovels and maintain the trails themselves. OC Parks has now started an effort to destroy the trails that they do not recognize as legitimate by using pick axes and shovels to literally break up the natural rock formations and excavate holes in the soil so that they are no longer safe to use by the public. They do this in the name of preserving the environment, which is quite the opposite of their actions. Sign this petition to let our local legislators know that this will not stand and the trails belong to we the people, the residents of Orange county. Let them know that we are able and willing to maintain all of these trails at no cost if they decriminalize trail maintenance by the public. This can have a positive impact on not only their constituents pursuit of happiness but will also benefit Orange County's annual budget.
