Demand the OCDA Drop Charge Against Jessica Aguilar

The Orange County District Attorney's Office is currently pursuing a charge against Jessica Aguilar, the woman who bravely helped save three journalists and defend fellow protestors at the March 25, 2017 Huntington Beach MAGA March. She did so by stopping Tyler Laube, an at-least then member of neo-nazi group Rise Above Movement (then known as DIY Divison) from punching a journalist by striking him in the face. For her heroic action, she was chased down by a violent mob, assaulted by multiple men and turned into police by Benjamin Daley (also of RAM) on a false accusation of pepper spraying people. She’s been fighting charges in court since then, with her defense able to get one charge dropped yet she still faces one charge for battery stemming from an earlier confrontation at the march with Laube. Laube has already taken a plea deal on November 20, 2018 confessing to associating with RAM, attending a combat training on March 15, 2017 and assaulting people at the March 25, 2017 MAGA March. It took federal authorities to charge members of RAM for their violence at the march yet the only person the OCDA is charging from the march is Aguilar.

They’re charging her for battery for slapping Laube in an earlier confrontation, yet she only did so after members of RAM told her to do so, Laube repeatedly taunted her by saying “fuck you”, called her a “bitch” and released a banner he was holding with a raised right hand. Laube was also on probation the day of the march from a prior violent conviction and attacked a journalist after this confrontation. For one of RAM’s victims to be the only person facing a charge from the OCDA on a crime so minor (a slap) is truly an injustice and Aguilar shouldn’t still be dealing with this more than two years later. This case began when Tony Rackauckas was district attorney, now with Todd Spitzer as the new DA there is hope he might do the right thing and drop the charge against Aguilar. I started this petition because...
My name is Frank John Tristan, I am one of the journalists who Jessica Aguilar saved from Tyler Laube, if it wasn't for her, who knows what would have happened but thanks to her (an additional protestor helped save me as well as amy colleagues) I was able to escape the punches of two men attacking me. She should be honored for her actions not punished!
