Orange County building inspector Cathy Stowell, John Do's 805 Baron Road fence is a danger
The Issue
The following letter was sent to Orange County building inspector Cathy Stowell. Copied were Dana Sussman with the Orange County Forestry Department, as well as the Orange County Environmental Protection Division.
"Dear Ms. Stowell:
This fence that you apparently permitted at 805 Baron Road is unsafe by Orange County standards as well as a potential Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission violation. The permit number is F22000798. It appears that you did not make a final inspection with the owner, John Do (DL Nails & Spa at 5957 South Goldenrod Road, Suite F). The permit indicated plans for a chain-link fence that's six-feet high. Instead, John Do erected this unstable, rotting wood fence that's hazardous to people living or working in the area.
John Do appears to have used endangered cypress wood for the fence, which may be illegal. It's unstable and is barely held up by diagonal stilts. The side fences are unsafe. He's added a black-tarp barrier in the back that's also a hazard. There does not seem to be a permit for it.
This is a perilous situation for the area, especially because he also illegally tampered with the existing well without a permit. The entire property is deadly and needs to be securely fenced. John Do bulldozed over the gopher tortoise burrows, knocked down trees including one with an eagle's nest, and filled in a pond full of spoonbills, all without moving the wildlife. There is no permit for that.
The permitting plans suggest the following: "Installing 1790 feet of galvanized chain link fencing 6 feet high, with one 10 foot long double gate with middle opening 5/5, and installing 135 feet of black aluminum fencing 6 feet high with one 15 foot long gate."
The applicant for the fence was Fencing & Railing 2 Corp (Felipe Jong) at 18300 E Colonial Drive, Orlando 32817, 5730 Old Cheney Hwy, Orlando, 32807, or 2708 Geoffrey Drive, 32826.
If this needs to be sent to another person, I appreciate your directly forwarding this email to that person, and copying me in. I wish to avoid months of being abruptly told I "need" to contact multiple other departments with each one telling me I'm in the wrong place.
Thank you for your attention."
