The Proponents are not backing down at all. They had CA. Congressman Ruiz and CA. Senator Padilla send a letter to President Biden urging him to [bypass Congress and] declare Chuckwalla a National Monument under the Antiquities Act. At this time we do not know the timeline for that Proclamation to actually hit the President's desk.

I urge every supporter of the Opposition to write to the White House and tell Biden NOT to do this, for all the reasons outlined in this petition. I realize this is a long shot but if we do not stay strong and fight, these lands will be gone, and they will keep taking our lands until there isn't any public lands for the American public.
