Hi all,
Thank you so much for signing the petition and spreading awareness. I spoke with Richard Wallis, Park Operations Supervisor for Regional Parks West Area at Metro Vancouver yesterday. Thus, I wanted to send out and update, which I will also add at the top of the petition.
You might have have seen a news article and a Post by Metro Vancouver that there are no proposed changes to trails in PSRP right now. While, that is true, they are in the process of reviewing the trail status and make changes this summer. The blanket ban proposal was one of many they are considering at the moment, along with better enforcement, education, change in trail use status etc. I have asked him to please also consult dog owners like us before making any changes at all.
They say this is because of multiple tickets and issues that have arisen in the past few years. However, the good experiences are not often talked about. It would be essential for them to hear from you about concerns and ideas on what can be changed or should not be changed. Thus, I do encourage you to email Metro Vancouver directly at icentre@metrovancouver.org with your thoughts on how to better manage issues on the trails. I suggested a few and I will make those updates to the petition today for your review as well.
Once again, thank you so much for all your support to make us heard and to ensure that we still have spaces to enjoy with our dogs off-leash.
Sincerely,
Dr. Devyani Singh
