Dear Friends and Neighbors:

TODAY is the day. The Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting and Public Hearing on the proposed rental apartment complex at 124 Kelly Road and 1535 Straits Turnpike will be held TONIGHT, Thursday, 1/4 at 7:00pm in the Shepardson Community Center Auditorium (1172 Whittemore Road). Please make every effort to attend this meeting and encourage your neighbors to do the same. The agenda for the Meeting has been posted here on the Town of Middlebury website.

At tonight's Public Hearing, residents will have the opportunity to deliver a short statement (maximum three minutes spoken) to the Commission and/or submit written comments. If personal commitments prevent you from attending the meeting, please submit your concerns to the Planning & Zoning Commission by emailing a written statement to pandz@middlebury-ct.org prior to the start of the Meeting at 7:00pm.

As a reminder, there is no existing zone in Middlebury that would allow for the construction of this type of rental apartment complex. In order for Metro Realty’s project to proceed, the Middlebury Planning & Zoning Commission would need to grant both a zone text change (Zone Text Change Application #23-67Z) and a zone map change (Zone Map Change Application #23-68Z) to the developer. The Town of Middlebury and the Planning & Zoning Commission are under no obligation to extend these favors to Metro Realty. Please come out and make it known that the citizens of Middlebury do not support the proposal and as such, do not support the requested zone text change or the requested zone map change.
