Oppose Tomball Innovation Intermediate location

Oppose Tomball Innovation Intermediate location
The Issue
On April 13th, Creekside area parents and community members were made aware of a change Superintendent Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora and the Tomball ISD administration presented to the Tomball Board of Trustees. While this change (or introduction of Tomball Innovation Intermediate) would bring positives to the community (like reducing overall number of students initially at the 3 Creekside elementary schools, better align 5th grade & 6th grade maturity in a small junior high experience and provide consistency with instructional models in the remaining school district), the overall negatives of the currently proposed change would outweigh those benefits.
Based on feedback from the community, we believe those primary concerns to be:
1. Traffic & Transportation Concerns: Increased traffic patterns across already concerning and congested roads.
2. Children Safety & Success: On the bus, the inability to bike or walk to school, and the time adjustment & impacts on student education.
3. Real Estate Values: Decrease in real estate values across the Creekside Park area.
4. Bond Change Communication: Fraudulent misrepresentation & breach of contract of Tomball ISD in promoting Proposition A during the 2021 bond vote. This effects ALL community members that pay school taxes to TISD as it establishes a precedent that the school board can do as they wish.
To be clear, we as a community are IN FAVOR of an Intermediate School for our children. But we are NOT IN FAVOR of WHERE the current proposal is located, or HOW the TISD school district went about proposing and moving forward with this change.
