The public hearing for the proposed Seminole Campground / RV Park rezoning has been postponed.
While this may seem like a delay, it is actually a critical window of opportunity for our community.
📌 What this means:
• The proposal is still active
• No final decision has been made
• Public input can still influence the outcome
📣 What you can do RIGHT NOW:
Lee County Land Development Code §2-191 is a rule that prohibits private communication with County Commissioners about the merits of a zoning case outside a public hearing.
In short:
All arguments, evidence, and opinions about a rezoning must be presented publicly, on the record, during the hearing—not through emails, calls, or meetings—so that the process stays fair, transparent, and legally defensible.
Way under Lee County Land Development Code §2-191:
Control the official record-
Anything submitted through staff becomes part of what Commissioners are allowed to rely on.
What to do:
• Send a formal written opposition packet to zoning staff (not Commissioners)
• Include:
• Your main argument letter
• Photos, maps, traffic concerns
• Expert opinions (if possible)
• Petition signatures
Why it works:
Commissioners can’t read your email—but they will read staff reports and attachments. If your material is in there, it’s fair game.
👉 Ask staff directly: “Please include this in the official record and staff report.”
• Continue gathering signatures and community support
• Stay informed and be prepared to attend the rescheduled hearing
This proposal involves converting agricultural land into an RV park, which raises serious concerns about:
• Land use compatibility
• Traffic and infrastructure
• Environmental impact
• Long-term effects on our community
⏳ Delays benefit those who are prepared.
Let’s make sure our community’s voice is heard before this comes back for a vote.
If you are opposed to this rezoning, now is the time to speak up.
