Importantly, please object to the development, but keep your responses simple and general. Detailed arguments are best saved for the formal Planning Objection stage. If we provide too much detail now, Waddeton Park will simply adapt their proposal to counter what we’ve said.

For this stage, vague, high-level concerns are the most effective approach.

Below are some short comments you can pick and choose from. Feel free to use any combination that suits your voice.

Suggested Simple Comments

  • Goes against heritage and destroys the long-standing character of the village.
Important historical site to the village.
  • Loss of green space at the entrance to the village—damages the character and setting on approach.
  • Increased footfall crossing the already busy Avenue to access village facilities and amenities.
  • GP surgery already stretched.
  • Increased strain on wider NHS resources.
  • School already reaching capacity.
  • Other proposed developments in the village are preferred.
  • Volume of car traffic—parking is already a problem.
  • Road infrastructure cannot cope.
  • More cars = more speeding = more accidents.
  • Safety concerns for all pedestrians.
  • Public transport is inadequate and limited—new residents would need to travel away from the village.
  • Increased volume of traffic.
  • No local employment, so new residents would need to travel for work and recreation.
  • Congestion in the village already—road infrastructure cannot cope.
  • More cars lead to more pollution.
  • Loss of agricultural land—impact on the local farming community.
  • 170 houses is too much, expanding too quickly.
