Oppose the Legalization of Assisted Suicides in Maryland

The Issue

Assisted suicide, also known as euthanasia, is a deeply controversial topic. The bill currently under consideration in Maryland would legalize this practice. (link to bill)

According to data from Oregon, where assisted suicide has been legal since 1997, over 1,500 people have ended their lives through this method (source: Oregon Health Authority). This raises serious ethical questions about our responsibility towards vulnerable individuals and our commitment to preserving life.

We should not construct a society that makes assisted suicide easy or common. We should re-direct our energies towards making sure that all patients get the kind of care we all want—helping us live to the fullest even as we are dying. Support that kind of high quality, compassionate care at the end of life, and the sort of moral world that makes it possible, by opposing physician-assisted suicide. (source: National Library of Medicine)

We urge you to stand with us against the legalization of assisted suicides in Maryland. Maryland residents, please sign this petition and let your voice be heard!
