The Issue
Without the correct parameters this bill will indeed breach multiple human rights and subject your child to being a victim of indoctrination, meanwhile removing your parental authority to make decisions until they become 18 years old!
As parents, guardians, and concerned citizens, we oppose the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill. This petition emerges out of personal experiences and a shared fear. If you are a parent or guardian of a child under 18, you are likely aware of the significant decisions you need to make for your child's wellbeing. However, this bill stands to change that. It hands the control you have over your child's upbringing and education over to local authorities.
Home-schooling, a choice that numerous families across our nation undertake for a variety of reasons, including security, academic focus, and religious views, will no longer be a choice. Families that wish to home-school their children will need to make an application, and there is a high chance it will be denied.
More alarming is the clause that gives the authorities the power to make life-changing decisions relating to the health of your child. Picture your child on life support. The heart-rending decision to prolong artificial life support, an unimaginably difficult choice, should ultimately lie in the hands of those who love the child the most -- the parents. However, this bill allows such a decision to be made without parental consent.
Our children are our future - their wellbeing should not be subject to bureaucratic stipulations. Parents and guardians should be the primary decision-makers over what they deem is best for their children's welfare. We urge you to sign this petition to demonstrate your opposition to the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill.
