The Issue

The Alberta Government is in favour of allowing AI data centres to operate within the province. These data centres will remove basic rights such as fresh drinking water, suitable farmland, and first priority to the resources of this land while increasing pollution of all types and risks of health effects.

There could be upwards of 38– 50 data centres planned, and or built within the foreseeable future. These data centres provide little to any economic impact, while increasing the likelihood of risk, harm, and so many more outrageous  repercussions. These risks include, but are not limited to an increase in light pollution, noise pollution, air pollution, gas pollution, unusable farm land, agricultural decline, loss of access to fresh drinking water, job market declining, and forever chemicals polluting our lands.

The biggest one in the world, wonder Valley, is expected to be built within Alberta as a means of ‘strengthening our economy.’ This, however, is not the case. In reality, this will most likely damage our economy as it exploits our natural resources, leads the people to have numerous health risks, unusable, farmland, and a decline in the quality of life as seen by our neighbours in the US.

This combined with the gross exploitation of the land of the Indigenous People’s truly displays the uselessness of it all.

Alberta is going at allowing these AI Data Centre to be built on our land with full endorsement, not acknowledging the innumerable risk’s posed to the people. We have a people cannot stand for this and need to fight for justice and a sustainable future.
