Petition updateOppose the 30 km/h Active Transport Strategy in the Borough of QueenscliffeUpdate on the Active Transport Strategy Draft - BOQ

The final draft of the Active Transport Strategy was released a week ago and is set to be moved at tomorrow nights Council meeting (August 23, 7pm). Sadly after reading the draft there were still references to '30 kph limits' within the draft.

As a result, a group of well respected community members (and ratepayers) from Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff accompanied me to a meeting today with Martin Gill (CEO) and Councillors, to follow up an official complaint that was lodged in relation to this and the fact that the feedback opposing this has been overlooked.

Two things came from our discussion, firstly that Council need to delay the approval of this strategy until further and wider community consultation has been carried out (where Council can be certain that every ratepayer has had access and is aware of the ATS draft) and secondly any reference to '30 kph' or 'lower speed' limits be removed entirely from the draft. The concern here being Council could implement it at a later date because it's mentioned in the ATS.

If you have time it would be greatly appreciated if you could send in a public question for tomorrow nights meeting referring to these issues. It must be lodged before 3pm tomorrow and sent to info@queenscliffe.vic.gov.au If you can attend the meeting to show support for this motion to be delayed, that would be even better.

We are still fighting the good fight and hopefully will get there with your continued help and support.

Regards

Raelene McDonald
