Oppose the 16-Story Tower in Hornsey / Crouch End

Oppose the 16-Story Tower in Hornsey / Crouch End
The Issue
PLEASE Oppose the 16-story tower / respect the 5-story building height restriction in our area
Although I love the Lotus Development Project and am enthusiastic about the regeneration of the area, I have a serious issue with the current proposal: a 16-story tower. This structure is not just a change; it is a drastic shift from the balanced and community-focused character that drew many of us to Crouch End.
Please have a look at the plans on the website https://thelotusbuilding.com/ (and notice how they don’t give much information about the 16-story building - a TOWER!!)
Surely, the Crouch End side of Hornsey has a building height restriction (5-story maximum or the equivalent.) Otherwise, IT SHOULD, to avoid future similar situations.
Housing is indeed a pressing issue in Harringay, yet developments should be thoughtfully integrated into the existing landscape. The proposed tower will stand excessively high, radically altering the skyline and atmosphere that defines our neighbourhood. Here, in the Crouch End side of Hornsey, a 16-story building is excessive and unsuitable. And it will set a precedent to further towers in and around the site (something we want to strongly avoid!)
This project seems more focused on profit rather than providing quality housing that integrates with local needs.
The strain on local infrastructure is another significant concern. Hornsey / Crouch End's facilities, from transport to utilities, are not equipped to handle the increased demand a building of this size would impose. It threatens to overstress public services and diminish our quality of life, congesting our roads and transport.
It's crucial for developments to harmonise with the communities they inhabit. We urge you to join us in opposing the 16-story tower in Crouch End / Hornsey. This is not about rejecting the redevelopment, but about advocating for a thoughtful and sustainable approach that respects our community's identity and needs. Sign this petition to help preserve the character and liveability of our beloved Crouch End / Hornsey.
