The community of Starkey Ranch, Odessa Florida is concerned over the placement of a new 4G/5G  cell wireless tower that is proposed to be placed on school /county property. The concern is over the potential health risks to the 1500+ children that attend Starkey K 8 Elementary school, the staff and educators at Starkey K 8 Elementary school, and the neighboring residents.

A GoFundMe page has been created the funds from this account will go towards the $5,000 retainer needed to hire an attorney with expertise in this field to help ensure this tower does not happen.

Residents, families of students and all those enjoying Starkey Ranch will be impacted if a cell tower is approved.  The harmful EMF radiation heats body tissue, causes cancer, and endangers our children. Scientists suggest children’s exposure to this type of radiation be reduced.

Please sign this petition to stop the cell phone tower from being built next to the track behind the school. The installation of the tower poses health risks and potential devaluation of real estate. The plan to build the tower was put into motion without the input or knowledge of  most nearby residents.

We are strongly opposed to the installation of the tower for the following reasons: 

1. Potential health risks to adults and children – Cell phone towers emit low-level microwave radiation distances of at least 500 meters.
2.  Potential health risks to students and staff.
3. The devaluation of real estate.

This lease agreement is anticipated to go to the school board for approval on April 4th, 2023 at 9:30 AM. This lease agreement is also anticipated to go to the Board of County Commissioners for approval on April 18th, 2023. Both meetings are open to the public and the public may comment on this item. Should the lease agreement be approved there will still be an approval process for the tower itself.
