With the fantastic news that Down Grange Park is officially off the table for ALL elements of the Golf Centre, it turns to me to declare victory and bring this petition to a close.

I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who signed this petition (excluding the Councillor who will receive this email because he signed 4 times as different Disney characters in an attempt to discredit it).

Since becoming aware of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s plans to relocate the Golf Centre to Down Grange Park, we have worked tirelessly to persuade the Cabinet to reconsider.

They have listened and changed their minds — and we are absolutely delighted.

We will continue working to protect as much green space as possible in the Borough, exploring opportunities to further protect Down Grange Park.

What I take from this is simple: if you care deeply about something but feel you can’t make a difference, try anyway. Hope comes through action, especially when you are supported by an incredible team of like-minded people standing beside you. 

Here’s to Down Grange Park and ALL its beauty.
