Down Grange Park is not yet safe – we can’t take the pressure off - 3rd December 2025.
Despite this week’s Council comms, Down Grange Park remains at REAL RISK. The Council may have shifted the Adventure Golf Course and Pods to the Leisure Park, but they have not confirmed the location of the Pitch and Putt — the element that would have the biggest impact on Down Grange and its many users, including sports clubs, Brownies and Guides, running and walking groups, dog walkers, nature lovers and wellbeing groups.
Announcing changes to the Pods and Adventure Golf while prevaricating on the Pitch and Putt feels distracting. You can find the Gazette article here Plans to build new adventure golf course at Leisure Park | Basingstoke Gazette
If the Pitch and Putt goes ahead at Down Grange, access for current users will be severely reduced, safety issues will increase, and local golfers will be left with a diminished, disjointed experience - as of today that has not yet changed.
This coming January, the 'Resident Services Committee' must focus on scrutinising the proposal/decision and suggest that the Project/Administration go back and look at alternatives for the Pitch and Putt element of the Golf Center re-provision.
We need your help to keep attention on this issue. Please continue raising your concerns until the Council confirms that Down Grange Park is not — and never was — a suitable site for the Golf Centre.
