As residents who have chosen to make our homes in a neighbourhood rich with history and charm, we are deeply concerned about the proposed development at 84 Chalmers St. Our houses average over a century old, and it's this character that makes our community what it is. We purchased our homes here, along with many others, desiring to see the area flourish in a manner compatible with its heritage.

The proposed severance under Bill 23 could potentially turn this single unit lot into six units - an overdevelopment that threatens the harmony of our neighbourhood. We believe in growth and progress but insist on developments that fit well with existing dwellings and uphold the spirit of Cambridge's Official Plan.

Our community is not for commercialization or financial gain; it's for families who value functionality, compatibility and respect for heritage. The development at 84 Chalmers St should reflect these values by remaining as one lot for up to three units.
