Stop the Proposed CAFO in Pine Township!
Pine Township, Benton County, INDIANA, USA.
We, the undersigned, stand together to oppose the proposed Confined Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) for 8,500 head of dairy cattle in Pine Township, specifically located on 150 South with a Legal description of PT NE1/4 & E1/2 NW1/4 26-25-07 230.29A (parcel number 04-09-26-500-001.000-013).
Our community in Pine Township is home to diverse wildlife, including deer, bald eagles, and other animals that thrive in Indiana's forests and creek habitats, such as foxes, raccoons, and various bird species. These habitats, including those along Big Pine Creek, are crucial for maintaining biodiversity and the natural balance of our region.
The proposed CAFO threatens to disrupt these vital habitats and harm local wildlife populations, impacting the ecological integrity of our area. Furthermore, this location is within one of the most populated parts of Pine Township and is proposed within 0.5 miles of six county residents who have lived here for generations.
In addition to environmental concerns, we are deeply worried about the excessive road use that will result from semis delivering silage and other deliveries related to the dairy operation. The increased traffic of large vehicles not only poses safety risks for residents, especially in residential areas, but also leads to road wear and noise pollution, further diminishing our quality of life.
The introduction of such a large-scale operation poses significant risks to our environment and health. CAFOs are known to produce substantial waste that can contaminate water supplies, including creeks like Big Pine Creek, and degrade air quality, leading to serious health risks for nearby residents.
We must protect our environment, preserve the character of our community, and safeguard the health and well-being of our residents, wildlife, and infrastructure. By signing this petition, you join us in urging decision-makers to reject the proposed CAFO in Pine Township.
Together, we can make a difference and ensure a sustainable and thriving future for Pine Township, its residents, and our precious natural resources like Big Pine Creek and the diverse wildlife habitats it supports.
Thank you for your support!
