Oppose Maryland Senate Bill SB306 to Support Injured Workers

Oppose Maryland Senate Bill SB306 to Support Injured Workers
The Issue
Join the fight for injured workers and independent pharmacies in Maryland
- SB 306 threatens to strip life-saving care from thousands of injured workers, including firefighters, police officers, and construction workers.
- Chesapeake Employers' Insurance and Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) stand to gain more power from this bill. If it passes, these Big Pharma giants will have total control of the market.
- Independent Pharmacies at Risk: Small pharmacies like RescueMeds in Annapolis are at risk of being shut down by the bill’s provisions, which favor large insurance companies over local providers.
Unchecked Power for PBMs: The bill will grant pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) significant control over the system, further prioritizing cost savings for insurers over the care of injured workers. - Fight for Transparency and Accountability: This fight is not just about one business; it's about ensuring that corporate interests don't trump the rights of Maryland's injured workers, small businesses, and taxpayers.

Please sign our petition to show the Maryland Senate that we the people stand for the injured worker, small business, and accountability in our government. Tell them that we will not stand by as corporate interests continue to win in the fight against average Americans. Whether you are in Maryland or the other side of the country, we need your voice to help us win this fight.
Our Story:
Maryland Senate Bill 306 has passed through the Senate Finance Committee and will soon be heard by the general Senate. This bill threatens to take away life-saving care from thousands of Maryland firefighters, police officers, construction workers, and any injured worker in the state. The Senate Finance Committee has introduced this bill, backed by Chesapeake Employers Insurance. Chesapeake is the largest workers' compensation insurance company in Maryland, and SB306 only gives it more power. Additionally, it grants PBMs total control over the pricing of prescription drugs. Simply put, this bill is a handout to Big Pharma. This raises serious alarms about the true intentions of this bill, and it's not serving our Maryland workers.
Here at RescueMeds, we are a small local pharmacy in Annapolis, MD that serves thousands of injured workers by delivering crucial prescription medications. We live to serve the injured worker, not our own bottom line like Chesapeake. If SB306 passes it will shut our company and other small independent pharmacies down, as we help the very injured workers that they deny prescriptions for. The bill grants unchecked control to PBMs, which would push independent providers out of the system. Unlike independent pharmacies, PBMs are tied directly to big insurance companies and prioritize cost savings for insurers over patient care. Chesapeake, and this bill, have claimed it will save Maryland taxpayers money, but in reality it grants them unchecked control of the workers' compensation system and will further line their pockets.
So, we need your help to stop this bill. They are trying to push a bill through that will hurt not just our patients, but all injured workers in Maryland and cost taxpayers millions of dollars. This is not just a fight for our business, it's a fight against government corruption in favor of transparency and representatives who help, not hurt, their constituents. We are also fighting for all small businesses and the right for workers to get the care they need. Chesapeake has hired four lobbying firms to work against us, but we are calling on the people to help share our story.
Stop this from happening in Maryland, so it doesn't happen in your state.
Thank you.
