Oppose having to obtain a permit for photography at Campbell Valley Park

The Issue

The new Photography guidelines that will be instated at Campbell Valley Park starting May 2023 is going to affect photographers all across the lower mainland. Along with photographers, these new guidelines are going to affect any individual, any couple, any family that wishes to have a photo session at Campbell Valley Park. With these new guidelines, photographers are going to stay clear from this large and versatile park, that was a favourite for most. For many photographers, this is their sole income, and as a community, we are supposed to support local and small businesses, instead of restricting them even more.

As photographers, we care about the environment in which we spend majority of our time and that allows us to capture memories for our clients. Hence why we stand by most of the guidelines including: no smoking, no alcohol, no drones, no large equipment / props. We understand that these are damaging to the habitat and nature of Campbell Valley Park.

However, we do not agree with being held liable for clients that hire us to provide a service for them. We do not agree with having to obtain a permit for every time we plan a photo session at Campbell Valley Park. In order to obtain the permit, they are also asking photographers to have insurance and be licensed or registered.

Being a passionate photographer is becoming much more complicated than it needs to be. Please help and sign this petition so photographers can go back to being artists and capturing memories for their clients.
