We, the undersigned residents of Centennial School District, ask our Centennial School Board NOT to hire Dr. Abe Lucabaugh as our next superintendent. 

Under Dr. Lucabaugh's tenure as the superintendent of Central Bucks School District, the ACLU filed two lawsuits against the school district alleging discrimination against LGBTQ+ students and to fight the retaliatory firing of a beloved middle school teacher who was suspended for helping one of his transgender students. These two lawsuits cost the school district, and thus the taxpayers, over $1 million dollars.

When Dr. Lucabaugh was superintendent at Central Bucks, the administration and school board banned pride flags in all classrooms and banned books across district libraries. All these actions create schools where students no longer feel safe being who they are, and are not even free to read what they want to read. That breeds a climate of fear and distrust, and increases bullying in schools.

Centennial is a more diverse school district than Central Bucks, both racially and socioeconomically. We do not want Dr. Lucabaugh's track record of discrimination against students anywhere near our beloved Centennial School District. We also do not want our tax dollars to fund lawsuits to counter any charges of discrimination. When you, the school board, meet on May 13th, please present a candidate who will support all our students, whatever their background and identity may be, and a candidate who will be fiscally responsible with our district's money. That candidate is not Dr. Lucabaugh.
