Well friends, some news broke today that, while not surprising exactly, is enraging.

The Centennial School Board has moved ahead in offering Lucabaugh a contract, and has already scheduled a meet & greet with him on May 22nd, ahead of the vote to accept him as superintendent on May 27.

The board has conducted this superintendent search mostly behind closed doors, with almost no community input. They are definitely trying to state that this is a "done deal," even though the vote has to be public, and has to take place at the May 27 meeting. The May 13 meeting is a "work meeting," so no big votes like this can take place. May 27 is a "committee of the whole meeting," which is why the vote will take place then.

We MUST keep emailing. We MUST show up at Tuesday's meeting. What I have heard so far is that they will not put Lucabaugh's candidacy on the agenda on the 13th, so they can try to silence those of us who want to speak against him.

But, there is always public comment time allotted at the end of each meeting for non-agenda items. We MUST insist on speaking at the end of the meeting, if they do not let us speak at the beginning. Signs are allowed at school board meetings, so if you are up for it, feel free to come with a sign saying No to Lucabaugh or No Media Circus Here, or whatever you like. Tips on signs, even in a small room instead of a big protest: keep the message short, write in thick lines (three strokes wide is good), and print large letters.

Lastly, please let me know if you are willing to speak on camera. I have connected with someone who knows our local media well, and will get us interviews. Please email me at concernedcitizensofcsd@gmail.com if you are interested, let me know your phone number, your availability, and what your connection is to Centennial.

Keep on keeping on, my friends. The education of our district's children and the future of our community depend on it.
