Round 2 is upon us. Vestar has "adjusted" their plans, but the main issues remain.
Having a commercial center near a high school and elementary school is just never an acceptable idea. It will not make the area safer for our students to go to school. It will most certainly double the traffic in the area, which is already highly congested. One day we will see the first casualties and it will be because of this developer.
Pay attention to the fact that they removed the drive through restaurants, but added a stipulation that it may still be happening "through a separate public process". This only means that if this becomes commercial, your lives will now be about opposing change request after change request they will submit to change the designation of these shops and over time, it will still have a lot of drive throughs and perhaps they will weasel in a gas station after all. The classic "Bait and Switch" strategy.
Vestar is "claiming" that this land will be used for high rise and that they are the lesser of two evils. Don't fall for it - check out the zoning yourselves (CLICK HERE)
It is zoned for same density as surrounding communities. Don't listen to their scare tactic that someone will be building high rise apartments. It's NOT zoned for that.
What they're not pointing out is the many commercially zoned pieces of land around Desert Ridge that they should be building on.
Let's stick to the Desert Ridge Master Plan. No amendments needed. Don't let it ruin this great community.
